Fun Facts
The sweet, colorful raspberry is a special type of fruit called an aggregate -- with over a hundred individual tiny fruits, called drupelets, each filled with one seed. Around since prehistory, they've been used as a medicine to soothe sore eyes, and as a toothpaste! With more than 200 species, raspberries can be red, orange, gold, purple, or black. They're the third most popular fruit in the U.S., after strawberries and blueberries.
Star Power
Raspberries are strong defenders of a healthy body! Chock full of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory phytonutrients, the distinctive raspberry conquers DNA-damaging free radicals and helps regulate enzymes that cause inflammation, which in turn protects against high blood pressure, lowers the risk of chronic disease, and helps keep the liver happy and joints healthy. And even though you can't see them, the seeds inside each drupelet are filled with fiber -- which is good news for the tummy. Did you know that raspberry leaves can be used to make a tasty tea?
